- Anyone who would like personalised advice can contact the National Careers Service for free, expert advice from a career’s adviser. The service is open from 8am to 10pm seven days a week and can be contacted by calling 0800 100 900, visiting nationalcareers.service.gov.uk or searching for the National Careers Service on Facebook and Twitter.

The Government’s Find-a-Job service includes thousands of vacancies across the UK, with more added each day across a range of different roles. More than 144,000 employers are already signed up and posting jobs online. Find out more.
Feed the Nation and Deliver to the Nation
Staffline Recruitment and PeoplePlus are supporting supermarkets and supply chains by responding to the increased demand in temporary job requirements. They are responding to this unprecedented challenge in the form of a nationwide recruitment campaign, to support the UK’s essential services, including food supply, retail and delivery.
As part of this campaign certain free training is also available.
The Skills Toolkit is a new online learning platform launched by the Government. It gives people access to free, high quality digital and numeracy courses, to help them build up their skills, progress in work and boost their job prospects. Digital skills are becoming increasingly essential across a vast array of jobs and sectors in the modern workforce, with three quarters (75%) of all job openings requiring at least basic digital skills. Boosting the nation’s digital skills is a first step towards recovery, helping people build up the skills employers need and boosting growth and productivity. Find out more here.
Cheshire and Warrington Support Available
Cheshire & Warrington Opportunities Portal is your digital front door to thousands of local jobs, apprenticeships and courses.
As a National Lottery and European funded programme, New Leaf works with multiple partners across Warrington and Cheshire to support residents into work or training, manage their money and benefits, as well as gain much needed confidence.
The New Leaf programme can offer various services:
- 1-2-1 mentoring
- Skills building
- Mental health support
Online Careers Fairs
The Cheshire and Warrington Pledge are working with DWP and JobCentre Plus to host virtual online careers fairs. Each fair will be focused on vacancies and training in a specific area of Cheshire and Warrington.

Work Zones are supporting people who are coming out of work as a result of Covid-19 who want to temporarily transfer into a new job in one of the expanding sectors as quickly as possible by job matching them with local employers. Cheshire East Council’s Supported Employment team are providing a job matching service. This is for residents in Cheshire East who are out of work as a result of COVID-19. People looking for work can submit their details via the portal. A member of the team will then contact that person and help them to secure a job opportunity. At the same time local employers who are taking people on can also contact the team.

Warrington’s Employment Development Team (EDT) are supporting people who are coming out of work as a result of COVID-19 who want to temporarily transfer into a new job in one of the expanding sectors as quickly as possible by job matching them with local employers. Warrington’s Employment Development Team can provide all the support you need to enable you to move into employment. They offer a range of services to support you in identifying and developing your job hunting and employability skills and can help with overcoming barriers to employment. Find out more here

The team work in partnership with external partners; including local voluntary/community bodies and other statutory organisations to deliver a total package of employment support projects – both employer-led (helping with recruitment drives, co-ordinating/hosting open days/interviews) and client-led (a tailored approach according to individual needs and preferences).
The menu of support will enable businesses to thrive ensuring future economic growth for the Warrington community as a whole, in addition to all residents including those from priority groups and target areas to improve employability skills and ultimately gain employment.
The team negotiate with employers, including through the Local Planning Conditions and support them throughout the recruitment process into job opportunities. The Agreement covers job vacancies, guaranteed interviews, specific/bespoke training needs, skills update, apprenticeships, site visits, work placements/experience opportunities etc.
